Here's what I've been doing for the past many years and hopefully I can help you with your own garden, speak at your next event, writing assignments, organizing an event or as a garden expert for media sources.
Speaker I've appeared and lectured in 15 states, from Florida to Alaska, on a variety of topics, from small rooms to large auditoriums. Let's talk!
Writer I've been the author, or co-author, of many books in the last 25 years. Along with my book, Great Garden Companions, I've written articles for national and regional magazines and newspapers.
- Weekly on the NBC affiliate WIVB-TV Channel 4 on Sunday mornings at about 8:20 a.m.
- Weekly gardening column, "Great Gardens," appears in The Buffalo News every Friday.
- You can even read my monthly columns for Buffalo Spree magazine
Landscape Consultant As a Certified Nursery & Landscape Professional (CNLP) I've consulted gardeners both experienced and beginners, residential and corporate. Some garden challenges are just too overwhelming for even the best of gardeners.
Event Coordinator I am currently the director of the National Garden Festival with Visit Buffalo Niagara, a five week long annual festival of 14 garden tours including Garden Walk Buffalo, the largest garden tour in the U.S.; 65 Open Gardens; weekly AAA garden-themed bus tours; workshops, symposium and speakers; and a Front Yard Garden Contest where New York State Nursery and Landscape Association members compete for awards and makeover a neighborhood in one week. I've also had created and managed many events such as the annual Fall Garden Fair, Master Gardener conferences, and other gardening symposia.
Garden Center Consultant & Education Coordinator During the growing season you can find me at Lockwood’s Greenhouses in Hamburg.
